This lovely Austin Healey is finished in bright Corolado red with black leather trim piped in red with a black hood, side screens plus a black tonneau cover.
It is with matching Engine number 1B/ 22342M, chassis number BN1/ 223425. Reg number URL 931, 2660cc engine and was registered on 17th Feb 1955 (nearly 70 years old). There have been only 3 owners from new.
This superbly rebuilt, original RHD, UK Home Market Austin Healey 100/ 4 BN1 was most notably owned by a former stuntsman pilot for the James Bond Movie ;’Tomorrow Never Dies’ who was the owner of many aircraft, motorbikes and cars but found little time to enjoy the Healey.
The Healey was totally restored in 1992 when the body was completely rebuilt, prepared and fully repainted, upholstery retrimmed, new weather equipment, re-chromed, rewired, 15 inch new wire wheels with 180HR 15 Michelin tyres and the original 3 speed manual gearbox with overdrive acting as 4th gear. The vehicle has also been mechanically completely overhauled.
It was kept in a centrally heated garage and regularly taken out for short trips and to events such as Newby Hall and has been kept in outstanding condition. The panels are perfectly straight and sharp, the underside is in body colour and is in outstanding condition and under the carpets reveals beautiful clean floor pans. The engine bay is beautifully presented with detailed ancillaries resulting in a car that looks like it was perhaps restored 5 years ago. The features include: laminated racing windshield, heater, racing Le Mans spec louvred bonnet, Bonneville salt flats 192. 62 mph speed testing grille badge, aluminium Healey rocker cover, Motolito wood rim steering wheel, full tool kit, correct M spec air cleaner, side exhaust and a Radiomobile CD and radio system discreetly fitted.
The history of the car is in a folder and includes: AH book by C Hardy, AH service manual, current and previous V5s, heritage certificate number 2020/ 328 confirming all numbers match and that it is a right hand drive UK vehicle, images of the car, Mot related paperwork and previous certificates, historic road fund licence discs, DVLA docs, invoices in excess of £6000 for general maintenance and upkeep, bill of sale, AH write up and Owner’s Handbook, Radiomobile operating booklet, parts catalogue, SC parts booklet, Classic and Sports Car article of AHs and an AH spares catalogue.
The car is extremely appealing and drives beautifully with the engine pulling superbly holding excellent oil pressure, the rebuilt engine sounds and runs perfectly, the three speed overdrive gearbox is a delight to use. The steering, brakes and suspension all feel tight and responsive. The car is overall, a real gem, in top quality condition with excellent reliability, used many times on the continent, something it was very used to doing. I shall be sad to see it leave my collection.
