Description
Beautiful and perfectly healthy 1958 Mercedes 300d ("hardtop saloon"), driven exclusively in Germany, in "pearl grey 125" paintwork with large steel sunroof, Becker radio, four-speed gearstick and blue-green velour interior. This is the much more attractive early version with the beautiful old steering wheel (ivory white) and the filigree control switches. Fortunately, it is also the manual version, because the old Borgwarner automatic transmission not only cost a lot of performance, but also driving pleasure due to its roughness. A lot has been invested in the car over the last three decades (!). A small fortune was invested in the interior alone (wood, radio, headlining, velour) and it is still in perfect condition today. The history goes back to 1965, when the first letter was exchanged for a second (still existing) "cardboard cover letter". Thanks to the help of the Mercedes-Benz archive, however, the first owner (a German upholstered furniture manufacturer) is now known - so the car's entire history is transparent. There are many expensive invoices: For example, over DM 20, 000 was invested in an engine overhaul in 1999 or Euro 5, 250 in the overhaul of the fuel injection system in 2005. And so the car still drives today as it should for a "state-bearing" car - absolutely confident. A stainless steel exhaust system was also installed. It is H-approved and has been driven for years with a private red licence plate. The MOT is valid until the end of 2026. As is so often the case, there is also a fly in the ointment: when it was painted decades ago, small bubbles formed in some places because some components were not chemically compatible with each other. However, these have nothing(!!!) to do with rust and behind them you will only find perfectly healthy sheet metal. In general, the car seems to have never seen a welding machine, even though it was driven in Germany. Please respect my asking price of 75, 000 euros (regardless of the daily exchange rate). It is not a distress sale and the money is certainly better invested in this historic car than in the bank! All information given is without guarantee of accuracy!
