Description
This is an exceptionally rare 1934 Ford Model Y Alpine Tourer – one of only three known surviving examples worldwide with a custom-built roadster body by Arrow Coachbuilders for the WJ Reynolds dealership in East Ham, London.
The vehicle is in excellent, fully restored condition. It retains its original 833cc side-valve engine, synchronized 3-speed gearbox (synchronized on 1st and 2nd from factory), and transverse leaf spring suspension. The car starts, runs, and drives reliably. The restoration included a full mechanical and body overhaul, authentic paintwork, and preservation of original details such as the cream dashboard, GB badge, Henry Ford signature on the rear panel, and Art Deco-style indicators.
Ventilation slots on the hood and fenders, foldable front windshield, and removable side windows are all period-correct.
The vehicle comes with complete documentation, including DVLA certificate, original logbook, restoration photos, and articles from 1962 and 1999.
This Ford is registered in the official Ford Y&C Register in the UK. To our knowledge, this is the only known Alpine Tourer of its kind with this specific configuration, bodywork, and historical traceability.
No immediate work is needed. The car is stored in a dry, controlled environment and has been showcased only at selected classic events. I acquired this vehicle in 2018 from British collector Sir Gary Davies, who had cherished it for nearly two decades. Though he was reluctant to part with it, the car came to me complete with its rich documentation and a promise to preserve its legacy.
What makes this Ford Model Y Alpine Tourer stand out is not just its rarity – it’s a one-of-a-kind coachbuilt British Ford, never offered by the manufacturer itself due to chassis limitations. The bold dealer commission, elegant open-top design, and handcrafted Arrow Coachbuilders body make it a true piece of automotive art.
The car made its public debut in Bulgaria in 2019 at the 12th Retro Parade in Burgas, where it won the award for best car. Wherever it appears, it draws attention and admiration not only for its condition, but for its story.
For collectors, this is more than a car – it’s a time capsule, a bridge between Ford’s British legacy and artisanal automotive craftsmanship. It’s the kind of classic that turns heads, starts conversations, and makes history come alive.
