Description

I have for sale my 1997 Fiat Punto 60s, with the reliable 1. 2 8v FIRE engine.

It's done just on 63, 000 miles, and has all three keys including the red master key. All the original handbooks, some stamped service history in the service book plus lots of receipts from my ownership.

It currently has an MOT until June 2025, however I'll put a new MOT on sale or when it's due whichever comes first!

I've regularly changed the oil myself, using premium oil and branded or genuine Fiat filters where possible. The car also had a brand new full Valeo clutch kit fitted when I first bought it in 2019, as the original Fiat clutch was completely worn out.

About two years ago the car developed an running issue, and it was found to be a bent valve so that was replaced along with timing belt, tensioner, head gasket, water pump, auxiliary belt as well as a new head gasket and cam cover gasket too. At a cost of around £800!

The Punto drives really well, no knocks bangs, funny noises or weird squeaks to spoil the drive.

It's been a great car for long or short journeys with plenty of comfort for the size, it's great on fuel so is pretty easy on the wallet!

I've also had a new key made up for the car, as one of the original blue keys broke but it's still included as it will start the car if needed.

Currently the Punto has some genuine Fiat 14 inch alloys which I fitted to the car with Falken tyres all round, two were replaced last year so have great tread. I do have the original 13 inch steel wheels and Punto S trims as well, if preferred I can refit these to the car instead at a slightly cheaper sale price.

But I will need a deposit up front, to cover the cost of two tyres that the steel wheels would require before being fitted back to the car. The bonnet has signs of lacquer damage, and the top of tailgate the lacquer has failed completely. I am due a slot at a bodyshop to have that rectified, but as yet TBC so best to assume the paintwork is as pictured. The car has some scuffs and marks, especially to the front bumper as pictured. I did spend quite a bit of money to get all the large parking dings, that the car came to me with removed by a paint-less dent removal company.

Being an S model it's as basic as it comes, no power steering, no central locking and wind up windows all round. No sunroof either, but less is more as it all works as it should. It does have a decent size glove box, both front doors have some handy storage pockets, and the boot can be opened with a little lever inside the cabin if you don't want to use the key.

It's a practical hatchback as the back seats fold too which has come in hand when moving longer items, but can easily hold your shopping, suitcases and even a pushchair with the rear seat up.

All in all it's a great car that can be improved on cosmetically with a lot of mechanical expense done, it's got plenty of life and years left in it and is getting rarer every year so if your looking for a Punto this could be the car for you!!

It'll be due an oil change soon, but that's really the only expense I know of that it'll need and is an easy DIY job if your that way inclined.

I'm not looking for a P/ X but I would consider a 2008 onwards Fiat Panda Eco 1. 1 or 1. 2, or the 2001 onwards Vauxhall Combo van, Fiat Doblo van, Renault Kangoo van etc.. I bought this car as I've had a few Punto's over the years! and although it needed a bit of money spending it's been faultless since.

Also it's probably one of the first 60s models registered in the UK as it replaced the 1. 1 55 S model that Fiat UK sold here. It's relatively low mileage for it's year overall condition is great, and the fact you can use this car everyday is a testament to what made the Punto such a popular choice when new!

Once some of the cosmetic blemishes are delt with, you'd have a extremely tidy little Punto to enjoy :)
