Fiat 131 Abarth Volumetrico 2000cc
A genuine example of this exceptionally rare and highly sought-after Italian performance saloon, believed to be one of fewer than 50 examples produced. Originally supplied in Turin and imported into the UK in 2015.
One of the very rare limited-edition Abarth Fiat 131 Series III two-door saloons, the Volumetrico was fitted with a supercharged version of the 2000cc twin-cam engine and featured a number of Abarth modifications including revised suspension, gearbox, limited-slip differential, exhaust system and distinctive 14-inch Campagnolo alloy wheels.
The Supermirafiori Volumetrico was available through the Italian Fiat dealer network for a limited production period during 1981, with Racing models only available by special order.
There are several key pieces of information which, when combined, verify the car as a genuine factory-period Volumetrico model:
131 AK V1 model designation — AK Sport or Racing, with V1 identifying Volumetrico specification
Engine code 232 R10 — correct Volumetrico engine designation (B220 denotes Racing specification)
Maximum power output listed as 103kW, equivalent to approximately 140bhp
All corresponding correctly with original manufacturer brochure specifications.
The car retains an unrestored, rust-free bodyshell with no signs of welding, with the inner wings and floor remaining in excellent condition throughout.
Finished in Alluminio Metallica with black plastic bumpers over a black cloth-trimmed interior, the cabin presents in very good order and remains remarkably well preserved.
Recent mechanical work includes a replacement radiator, replacement steering rack and specialist brake rebuild, together with a 123 Bluetooth programmable distributor and upgraded performance leads. More recently, the car has benefitted from a full stainless steel exhaust system and tuning work carried out by Ron Harper Motorsport.
The engine has also received a comprehensive inspection and was reported to have strong compression, no oil burning issues and a healthy supercharger system.
The car is currently fitted with CD68 wheels, though the original wheels and tyres are included within the sale.
