Description
This is a really lovely, original 1972 Volkswagen Devon Moonraker Campervan. It has been really well looked after and cherished over the years which is why it has survived so well and remains in such beautiful condition.
The original Devon interior is just stunning with it's original cushions in such lovely condition. The original orange material just screams 1970s and complements the gorgeous Sierra Yellow paintwork beautifully. The original headlining is still like new!
The van has covered a total of 98, 000 miles from new. However, it had a rebuilt engine fitted a few years ago and this really sounds lovely and it drives really well. This is an original spec, period correct 1600cc unit.
In recent years it has been maintained by the renowned Evil Ben's Volkswagen specialist in Cornwall.
Although it is MOT exempt, it is MOT'd until April 2026 for peace of mind and of course is registered as an historic vehicle so the road tax is free. Classic car insurance on the van is really cheap and I believe it is also ULEZ free as well.
There are a lot of bay window vans out there but very few are as original as this one, with such a stunning interior. It is also quite rare to find a tin top, so no leaky pop top to worry about, just a nice cosy interior.
The van has all it's original furniture in the back including the rather special swing out cooker unit for when you are in Jamie Oliver mode.
When it comes to really sought after collectible camper vans, originality is key to them really holding their value. This is one for the true enthusiast or someone just looking for a lovely original van that you can just jump in and go camping in.
If you fancy a chat about the van, please give me a call. It is available for viewing near Penzance in Cornwall, in proper vintage Campervan territory. I am happy to do a video call to show you around the van if it helps before embarking on the journey down.
I have owned vintage Volkswagens since 1989 and can honestly say this is one of the nicest bay window vans I have seen. Plus it is in the perfect 1970s colour scheme which makes it a very cool bus indeed.
I am selling the van for a friend of mine, a lovely lady who has cherished it for the last few years having bought it from a friend of hers locally. She is only selling it as she is relocating and can't take it with her. She has named the van Velma and is looking for someone to cherish and enjoy the van as much as she has.
