1980 MK1 Vauxhall Cavalier GL in a lovely spec of maroon, black vinyl roof and red velour interior.
This car was a 1600 from factory but last year it received a freshly rebuilt 2000 unit with a receipt of 4k for the work detailing the new parts that it received, that's been mated to a Weber carburettor with manual choke and a ramair filter (original filter will come with the car but the elements are rare now so I'm saving it).
The rear brakes were also rebuilt last year with new brake drums and lines as well as the dashboard voltage stabilizer being swapped to a reliable modern variant.
It has been modified with the suspension being lowered and banded steels wheels from an r50 mini being put on paired with MK1 astra centre caps. It was my intention to return the car to standard when purchasing but it grew on me and the ride was pleasant.
A lovely example to enjoy as is or return to standard. The car was restored in 2009 with a full respray in Vauxhall 2 pack, NOS bumpers, headlights and a new vinyl roof. After the restoration in 2010 it was modified being lowered and paired with the banded steels from an r50 mini (now with MK1 astra centres) the car then did 3 thousand miles but from 2010/ 11 until I bought it in 2023 it did barely a few hundred miles. It was around the 80000 mark that it received the new engine so to run it in I got it up to 85000 with 4 oil changes in between. So the car has now done 5000 miles on the new engine and 8000 miles total since the restoration (reportedly the clocks were changed at restoration and so the shell was at 45k but the original documentation is lost)
