A matching numbers, scares, probably the finest example left today, in uk. A Type A, 1974 Yamaha MX (MotoExtreme) 125cc, un-used, manufacture number 5 made, as serial number the details below = 005 number of manufacture, 402 model number MX125, 454 factory it was built at.
Brought to UK in 2009, due to USA austerity, by the original buyer. who bought it for his son, who never used it, so he stored it for 37yrs, in very dry low humidity, in huntingdon beach California. This limited edition original MX, was made for USA export only, and only 900 made of each cc, of the 5 cc"s made in late 1974.
It has its original single ring piston at the unbored original size supplied of "56mm".......... comes with original 1st overbore piston kit NOS, at 56. 25mm.
Kenny at Kaplan motorcycle museum in Cali, says it worth 9000 dolars, he has recently found a VGC "1974" 250MX..... in trade mark Yam Comp Yellow A26 speed block tank and side panels. Quote you just dont see these anymore...
So i re painted the frame, new chain and maxxis tyres, and original black and white triple stripe to front and rear fenders, as was when new, and still is !, as pictures show, plus rear sprocket, zero wear at all, not something that's possible to replace with the original "Dished" drive offset. Rear sprocket spare part half a century later !. Probably the best example left in Uk/ EU 50yrs since the original 900 where made. And should not be this side of the pond !.......
A stunning, un-used, fully restored, although not much done to it at all, all original paint and tank, all original decals. True Yam MX eye candy piece, to good an example to be used, front sprocket, plywheel nut, and rear sprocket, head, and exhaust bolts all just done up firm, "Not To Torque Settings", set firm for storage. it comes with a full 13 to 17 tooth fron sprocket new set, Yambits kit.
This little Yam MX potent 125 30kw@6000rpm. Is the one that launched the entire MX seen, now a 3. 5bln USA EU world champ industry, and a right of passage for many young USA boys... MX Sunday"s soccer and burgers on Saturdays !.

In A1 original un used condition a very rare survivor of 50yrs, half a century, of low production numbers. Only one other in UK but on its fourth bore out at 56. 75mm, and its the oversize 360cc, speedshack Darren got one for restoration....
So unless otherwise known, the best 56mm standard un used, original 125 MX in the Uk. I just moving to a smaller property, and need the room... otherwise would not sell, but no garage where we are going, very sadly, been with me since coronation day, when i collected it from the importer a private owner from the USA in Southampton.. Theres only one in Uk at original un overbored piston size, 56mm, and in this condition, in 20yr of the Kaplan Yamaha Motorcycle Museum in California, Kenny says, untill recently, he has never seen one, as most thrashed out and thrown away........ but not this escapee..! true value 9k.
