Description

Lovely genuine example of a 1972 Harvest Gold MGB GT.

4 Speed Manual with Overdrive. Sitting on original 14" rostyle wheels.

Excellent provenance with first owner for nearly 50 years until 2021. 97000 miles understood to be genuine, lines up with previous MOTs and first owners' use case.

Over £40, 000 of restoration and repair invoices! £6000 spent at Carl Hopkins MG restorer in Feb 2024. 4 New Shock Absorbers. Full Gearbox rebuild last year with new synchros. Brake calipers overhauled with all lines and hoses replaced. Full front suspension rebuild 2023. Ivor Searle remanufactured engine, clutch etc in 2013. The list goes on... A huge folder of bills.

Previous owner was an electrical engineer so all connectors have been replaced with modern blade connectors. Electronic washer jets installed. 123 Electronic ignition.

Reupholstered interior in original colours black/ navy. Original aluminium steering wheel. Fully sound-insulated under carpets. Ally door pulls and window winders which look nice and in-keeping. Bluetooth stereo and new speakers installed in the rear.

Front bumper overriders are in great condition and go with the car, though not fitted currently.

No rot/ corrosion. It is rock-solid. Expect only a couple of minor paint blemishes in line with use and you won't be disappointed. Not a show-winner, but probably not that far off. All bodywork seams are sharp and period-correct.

Overall a clean, tidy and reliable example with all the modern adjustments you want while still maintaining originality. Starts on the button, runs and drives very well. Everything works. Generally dry use throughout it's life, although got caught in a downpour accidentally the other day and can confirm it is watertight!

MGOC Consultant Valuation at £8500 in Feb 2025. Bought privately in March, have enjoyed taking it to a few shows and a bit of fettling. Unfortunately losing my storage soon so it needs to go. That said, not interested in silly offers. Cheers.
