Description

The original Integra Type R, crowned as the best driving FWD car again and again by motoring journalists.

I’ve owned a number of these over the last two decades, trying to find a low mileage, solid and unmolested DC2 is an extremely difficult task and has been that way for a number of years now.
If they’ve not been heavily modified and used hard on track they’re usually rotten (often both) Demand from other continents meant Japan has been constantly squeezed to export the remainder of its nice JDM examples, needless to say that tap has run dry and time has taken its toll on the majority of the remaining cars, even most of those still in Japan are nothing like the condition they once were.

The most desirable spec DC2 model, this stunning 2000 Type RX model is one of the best I have seen, factory original throughout and doesn’t appear to have ever been modified. A very low mileage example with 78k Kms or 48k miles from new and still reading in KM’s. A history check has been carried both in Japan and the UK with certificates available to confirm this example has no accident or untoward history of any sort and the mileage is genuine. It would appear to be a three owner car in total, two being in Japan and one in the UK.

The bodywork is stunning, straight and rust free in all the common areas, the colour is uniform throughout, the panel gaps are factory perfect and the paint finish has aged exceptionally well. The rear arches have all spot welds perfectly visible with no signs of even surface rust.

It looks and drives exactly like a low mileage, well kept DC2 should. The steering is sharp with no play, the clutch is light and precise and the gearbox is perfect with no crunches or whines, it engages vtec perfectly with no smoke in the rearview mirror whatsoever. On a B road they are without doubt one of the best cars ever made.

The interior is excellent throughout, the drivers seat still hugs you nicely, bolsters still firm. Being an RX model it has the luxury of folding mirrors and A/ C both of which still work. Original Pioneer Carrozzeria head unit and the factory upgrade speakers, tweeters and blue carbon trim that the RX models were spec’d with from new. There are no areas of excess wear, the steering wheel still has all its grain visible, the gear knob is scratch and wear free and the factory floor mats are in excellent order. All electrics work

The boot area doesn’t look like it’s ever carried anything in it, the lightweight factory plastic ‘board’ is unmarked along with the carpet and surrounding plastics. Lifting the boot board reveals a real rarity which is a perfect and original spare wheel well, no rust and not repainted. The jack still has its gold anodising along with the tools, even the space saver wheel is rust free. DC2’s were and are famous for water leaks and rust with the spare wheel wells usually the first to suffer so when one looks as good as this it’s a very good sign indeed.

The underside is excellent and original with barely any surface rust. It’s had a very light coat of black protective paint applied while in Japan (not underseal) I can gladly report that the areas I’ve removed the black coating from including common corrosion prone areas such as the rear tie brace have revealed a factory finish underneath (see photo, the brace has not been repainted silver, that’s the original finish and condition that was under the black coating) Which confirms its been applied for prevention rather than disguise. The springs still have the blue dots and there are plenty of uncoated visible areas on the underside still in their original ‘off white’ finish behind the rear bumper etc which are all superb.

The wheels are still in their original 'barely painted' thin white coating, with the backs of the rims still in bare alloy, they’ve not been refurbed and don’t need to be. The rear brake calipers have also never been repainted, further evidence that it’s a car that has not been subjected to much wet weather use at all.

It has just had a big service inc engine oil, filter, air filter, fuel filter, brake fluid, clutch fluid, valve clearances and rocker cover gasket, gearbox oil (the gear oil that came out was as clean as the new oil that went in) and spark plugs. I’m advised the timing belt was replaced in 2020 and would appear to be correct as the Honda logo and part number are still visible on the belt where it would run on the rollers. The air con has been re-gassed, four new Toyo tyres just fitted and wheel alignment carried out, brakes cleaned and serviced.

Super scarce in this condition and mileage and likely one of the best, enjoyable investments you’ll make in a modern Japanese classic. For any genuine overseas buyers I can potentially assist with having the car delivered to a shipping agent. No scammers or time wasters I’m familiar with both. Part exchange possible with classic or retro car or bike value up or down. Located in Aberdeen 15 mins from the train station and airport. Delivery may be possible.
