Description

1992 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet
175, 000 miles | Manual | Owned 10 Years | Daily Driver
£8, 500

I’ve owned this 944 S2 Cabrio for the past 10 years – it’s been my daily driver through every season, and it’s never let me down (except once, and that was my fault – more below). I'm the 10th keeper, and I bought it when I refused to get something "sensible" for the school run. I wanted a sports car with two rear seats so I could still take my kids to school – and I’ve never regretted it for a second.

Now the kids are grown, I can’t justify collecting cars, and I’ve got my heart set on a Lotus – so it's time to pass this one on.

It’s not a concours car – if you’re after that, add another zero. But it looks wonderful, sounds wonderful, and is genuinely a joy to drive.

Let’s be real: all 944s have rust somewhere, no matter what the adverts say. If you cannot see it - it will be there. I fell for the “no rust” line 10 years ago, but I’ve learned where to look, what to watch, and how to manage it – and I’ll happily show you all of it. You’ll also get my advice on what’s been done (on this and other 944s) and how to stay ahead of the issues. There are good and bad ways to deal with old cars – I have done this right and I have sorted what was done wrong.

I have many receipts and service records from my ownership. I’ve lost a few over the years, but I’m more than happy to walk you through what’s been done, what’s been needed, and what you should think about going forward. This isn’t about hiding anything – if you buy, I’d honestly like you to keep in touch because I love this car so much.

If you can do mechanical and bodywork yourself, great – but if not (like me), this car is still absolutely manageable. You just need a good mechanic and bodywork expert, and I’ve got trusted contacts I’d be happy to pass on. Some years you’ll spend a bit, some years very little – it’s not a money pit, but it is a classic and needs care.

Honest Notes:
The only time I got stranded was from ignoring a radiator leak – hobbled home by topping it up with bottled water. Totally on me.

The roof chassis broke a few years ago and I took some bad advice. It was repaired, but one of the arms is missing, and it would take a few hundred pounds to get it properly working again. I drive with the top down often – it's fine manually.

The immobiliser was temperamental, so I had it professionally removed – starts reliably now. It’s not a concours car – but it looks wonderful, sounds wonderful, and is genuinely a joy to drive. It gets smiles, waves, and conversations wherever it goes. But you buy it for the drive.

This isn’t just a car – it’s a character. If you’re thinking about getting a 944, feel free to call even if you don’t end up buying this one. I’ll give you honest advice. And if you do buy it, I’d genuinely love to stay in touch and support you keeping it on the road.

People who love classic cars should stick together. I hate being ripped off or misled, and I’ve always appreciated honesty in this community – that’s why I’m offering the same here. You’ll know exactly what you’re buying, what to look out for, and how to enjoy every mile of it.

This car has given me a decade of joy. I want it to go to a good home – that matters more than the money, which is why I’m selling it for less than I bought it, and in far better condition.

Call me if you’re serious. If you love driving, you’ll love this car.
