Description
This MGB is from 1963, and is a rare first series model with overdrive. The car, built and destined for the Italian market, has always been in Italy. It is an ASI gold plate and has a CRS in the car's registration book, with tyre homologation for both 155s (which it now has) and 165s. Here is a list of the work recently carried out:
- repainted in original Tartan Red colour, - put new stainless steel rods on body side panels, - put on new 155 tyres, - put on new inner tubes, - new stainless steel exhausts, - new leaf springs,
- new Teflon bushings on front and rear suspension - carburettors rebuilt in Brescia by Franchini's British Racing Green, - new petrol filter, - new distributor depressor tube, - new additional radiator fan with vintage manual control (to facilitate cooling when standing in rows in summer),
- new front bonnet rod, - new handbrake cable, - new front brake pads, - reconditioned disc brake calipers, - new indicator indicators, - new steering cover, - new vintage cigarette lighter (to power any phone charger), - new car battery, new battery isolator, - odometer instrument recently reconditioned in Verona by Pravata, - recent complete service (Castroll 20w50 oil, new spark plugs, new air filter, new oil cartridge),
- rubber mats bought new, - original keys, - tounneau cover new original, - driver's seat restored with new original upholstery, - new dashboard instrument bulbs, - glovebox lock (front drawer) restored,
- chromed glovebox strap replaced with original vintage one, - glass shell of right side courtesy light replaced with original vintage one, - tappets perfectly adjusted, - new distributor cap, - new spark plug cables, - new condenser, - new rotor
- new original period platinum-plated needles - reconditioned brake master cylinder - complete replacement of brake and clutch oil with dot 5 silicone oil (which does not deteriorate plastic parts) - replacement of rubber skirt under gearstick lever - new windscreen wipers - new interior mirror rod - new mirror rod base - new leaf catcher grille - as the wrong badge was fitted to the rear bonnet I first welded the holes in the bonnet and then fitted the correct badge.
As the car was produced for the Italian market it has an odometer. The odometer and rev counter are Jaeger brand (they were only fitted to the first series), there is heating, the indicators on the front mudguards are the original ones of the time (which Innocenti, as the Italian importer, had installed to bring the car into line with the Italian Highway Code). The car is serviced. Before repainting the car with the original Tartan Red colour, I had all the holes caused by the screws to put the rear number plate welded in. I had the car's registration book updated at the DMV with the approval for 155 and 165 tyres.
