Description
This MG TA Tickford is a rare survivor. It has been part restored from the ground up since it's acquisition as a basket case in 2017. Sadly it will not be finished in our ownership as time and other projects have caused it to stall. The chassis, axles, steering, engine and gearbox have all been rebuilt from boxes of disassembled parts and the bodywork has been totally rebuilt too. The car has been resprayed in it's original black and the instruments have been rebuilt by the famed John Marks of vintage restorations.
The trim, seats, carpets door cards and hood remain to be completed as does the wiring. MG Midgets from the J2 to the TF have always been the most popular of the smaller British sports cars both pre and post World War Two but the Tickford added some much needed creature comforts and civility to the somewhat basic standard models. As a result these rare cars are capable of doing everything the standard models can, touring, trialling, racing or shopping but with a little more decorum. Not many survive but this one has with a comprehensive history file and record of the works undertaken, a record of previous owners, old copy of the buff log book and some boxes of spares. It will make a wonderful, usable and rare pre war tourer when finished. Viewing is recommended.
