Description

Selling my very rear 450SLC 5. 0 its a fantastic Car I purchased it in Germany in July 24 with the aim at using it for Historic Rallying as a upgrade from my 230E which my wife and i completed the Artic Midnight Sun Rally in July 24, however my wife has since decided that she does not want to do any further rallies so unfortunately it has to be sold
The car was originally registered in Munich in 1980 and then exported to Japan where it stayed until circa 2010 it was then reimported to Germany at that time it was also professionally resprayed in original Silver.
There is a full Japanese service history and also lots of bills from its recent time back in Germany including recent 6k spent on fully refurbishing the AC system last year
The outside and inside is perfect and it drives extremely well, i have been using it regularly over the last year and it is a pleasure to drive,
I have fitted a aftermarket steering wheel but the original one is with the car, also a full period looking Bluetooth radio with hands free phone is there.
The car can come with the Penta Style wheels that are in the photos tyres all in good condition new last year or original 15” Mexican Hat alloys as original fitment.
It also has the desirable factory optional extra of LSD, electric sunroof, headlight cleaning wipers, headrests, central locking grey velour seats all in excellent condition.
I am the only UK owner and this is a very desirable car in the correct colour combination in my view, the current number plate is not included and it will go back on the Y plate issued when i registered it with DVLAThe 450SLC 5. 0 would go on to be the first V8-engined car (and the first automatic) to win a World Rally Championship event in a career that was short but impressive.
In tests of strength and endurance, driven by the likes of Andrew Cowan, Björn Waldegård and Hannu Mikkola, the SLCs put in some epic performances.
On the gruelling 39-day, 30, 000km Vuelta a La América del Sud held in September 1978, SLCs – still standard 450s at that stage – took the top five places in their debut event.
The 5-litre SLCs totalled 2769 cars, split 1636/ 1133 between the 450SLC 5. 0 and the post-1980 500SLC with its V8 reduced slightly to 4973cc (for Group 2 eligibility) and the later four-speed auto.
The 450SLC5. 0 ran from September 1977 to March ’80; the 500 from there through to the end of production in ’81.
Both models came with discreet front and boot spoiler and the lower flanks below the rubbing strip painted in a contrasting grey. All had aluminium boot lid and bonnet to save weight
The ‘Mexican hat’ alloys looked the same as the standard SL/ SLC type, but had a ½in wider rim. Most cars were supplied without sunroofs, and even headrests, headlamp washers and central locking were officially extras.
