For Sale: 1950 Austin K8 Three-Way Van – A Rare Piece of Motoring History
Built at Longbridge in October 1950, this Austin K8 Three-Way Van comes fitted with the original 2. 2L petrol engine. First owned by a lady who operated it for many years as a mobile shop, it proudly served local communities until the 1970s. After its working life, it was stored away in a shed until being rediscovered around 2010.
In 2015, Austin Counties Club member Ray Dawes showcased this van on the club’s stand at the NEC Classic Car Show, where it drew plenty of admiration as a rare survivor of its kind.
The current owner acquired it in 2022 with the intention of preserving this wonderful vehicle. However, due to advancing age and other projects, he now feels it deserves a new custodian who can give it the attention it warrants.
This van offers its next owner two exciting options:
• Preserve its unique patina and originality, celebrating its working life as a mobile shop.
• Undertake a full restoration and return it to its former glory.
Please note: the original Rochdale registration HDK 678 is not currently active and will need to be reapplied for via the DVLA.
Walk around video available.
Price: £8, 500 (ONO)
