Subaru in the UK released the Turbo 2000 "Catalunya" in March 1997, a limited production of 200 cars (excluding cars numbered 13) in Mica black with red flecks riding on gold alloy wheels.
The Catalunya was made to celebrate Subaru's second WRC manufacturer's title at the Rally of Spain (Catalunya).
As said above the Catalunya is Based on the UK Turbo 2000 but with some attractive upgrades such as body colour-matched bumpers, door handles and mirrors, red and black upgraded seats and door trims, a numbered plaque, air-conditioning, interior mats with logos and Limited Edition Catalunya badges on the rear and front fenders, This model is sat on 17" optional gold alloy wheels, and like the previous McRae model, just 200 cars were produced by Prodrive.
Catalunya's entered UK dealerships in March 1997.
This beautiful example is #39/ 200 and looks very impressive in Black Mica (tiny red flecks) with gold alloys It's powered by the stunning EJ20 2. 0 boxer engine with that amazing burbling exhaust sound, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A new cambelt and a new clutch were both fitted within the last couple of hundred miles, It has covered 109, 500 miles and has been enjoyed by previous keepers. It retains all of its original books and a stamped Service Book, Records indicate that there are only 100 of these cars left in the UK (mid-2022) of which only 17 are currently on the Road.
This Catalunya is an appreciating, original, classic and, in a world where many have been broken for parts or modified, unmolested cars are getting harder to find particularly in this well cared-for condition. Imprezas of all denominations seem to go from strength to strength in terms of collectability
Anyone following the marque will know that these cars are heading in the direction (Value wise) as the Ford Escort did a few years ago). A discerning investor in motor vehicles will know that the Impreza is the next one to watch and invest in.
I purchased this car in 2015 to add to my collections of Subaru's. Up until 2021 I had not driven it. It has been dry stored at my secure parking.
The car has been serviced along with Cambelt, Using my brand Silverline oil. Also having Fluids such as Antifreeze, clutch fluid etc changed.
It has been driven for approximately 100 miles since and it drives lovely. It is totally standard throughout apart from the radio (Pioneer) and speakers. The underside has been treated with a lanolin based rust proofer to preserve its condition.
Since 2015 this car was only brought out for a static display on sunny days at my work place for fellow Subaru enthusiasts to view.
