After production under Austin Rover Portugal ceased in July 1989, Rover Group sold the Moke rights to the Italian company Cagiva, due to technical and conjectural reasons at the time .
Under Cagiva management they only produced 1, 500 cars still in Portugal between 1991 and July 1992 , now known as Cagiva Moke (as they could no longer use the MINI name), using the same old Austin Rover facilities in Portugal.
Some inovations and consequently differences compared to the Austin Rover Mini Moke , such as : front radiator with electric fan, white upholstery with the Moke name printed on the leather and green piping, green seatbelts, a new C-shaped hood opening, new wheel hubcaps , and green was added as a new body color , interestingly this production still in Portugal only had three colors , Red, White and now Green, and it actually made a bit of sense as by coincidence or not, they are actually the colors of the Italian flag .
In 1993 there are rumors that all the equipment including Tooling, jigs , some vehicles that have not yet been sold and unfinished vehicles were moved to Italy , these unfinished vehicles were probably finished off by hand in Varese, with the remaining stock ..., of these and those that were already finished, it is estimated that 571 cars were sold in Italy , some with minor changes such as a new bumper design and smaller headlights , making a total of 2071 cars built under Cagiva Brand .
In short, the Cagiva Moke is a final chapter in the history of the Mini Moke, making it the rarest and one of the most sought after version due to the limited number of cars produced and the last true production run.
All Cagivas had VIN numbers beginning with TX5 XKFP328S , unlike the previous production that started with TW7 XKFP328S
This particular example was delivered new to Madeira Island (PT), where it had little use and spent the last 20 years in dry storage. It has never been restored, is unmolested, and 100% original (Factory condition).
It has recently been serviced and is in excellent mechanical condition, with only 22, 000 km from new
