Description
This 1970 MGB GT was subject to a full nut-and-bolt rebuild completed in 2013. The body was stripped back to bare metal, and all rotted body parts were replaced with new items. All remaining parts were cleaned and waxed. The body was then reassembled and painted.
The engine received an overhaul from A. C. Pogson & Sons, which included new pistons and reinforced unleaded valve seats. Upon refitting the engine, new carbs were installed, and a new prop shaft was fitted.
The front suspension was rebuilt with all new parts.
The interior was upgraded with new seats facing, carpets, headlining, and a walnut dashboard. There is a glass roof hatch for those rare, very hot days.
The instruments are clear, possibly refurbished, and work correctly.
The gearbox and overdrive work quietly, with the overdrive engaging and disengaging smoothly.
The paintwork is very smart, the chrome work is excellent, and the car sits on excellent chrome wire wheels shod with matching tyres.
The car drives and corners as you would expect from a rebuilt MGB GT.
All in all, this is a very tidy MGB with a history file of invoices to the value of £9000, which does not reflect all of the work that must have been included in the rebuild.
Reason for sale: My old joints make getting into and out of a much-loved car difficult.
The car can be viewed in its dry storage in South Berkshire. Please, no dealers. The car comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Factory record.
The car has covered under 1500 miles since its first MOT following its rebuild in 12013.
