Selling on behalf of a friend who lives abroad and the bike is therefore in storage. This Daytona 900 deserves to be used, has had just two previous owners before him, is in fantastic condition and comes with a stack of history.
Bought new in 1995 at Len Manchester Motorcycles, it had its running in service at the supplying dealer after 509 miles and subsequently filled its service book with stamps and/ or signatures with 18 services up to May 2005 and 51, 000 miles. That's fresh oil, religiously, every 3, 000 miles, all done under the ownership of the first owner who apparently was a Triumph employee (not confirmed).
There are also two further oil service receipts from 2010 and 2012 when the bike will have been on around 58, 000 and 64, 000 miles respectively, plus a clutch of various other invoices and MOT certificates dating all the way back to 1998.
The bike changed ownership in 2013, but the mileage has hardly moved since 2015 so the bike appears to have been largely stored since then. That, and the meticulous care of the first owner explains the amazing condition of the bike despite the mileage.
Through the experienced guys at DB Moto in Thirsk, we have had the bike thoroughly gone through and lightly recommissioned. This includes carb strip and clean, compression test, new spark plugs, new oil and filter, brake calipers strip and rebuild, new air filter, fresh brake fluid and 4 new OEM indicators (which had broken during storage / transportation).
All in all, this is a chance to buy a classic Daytona 900 in the best colour and in lovely road-ready condition, even getting on your knees and looking underneath reveals everything to be nice and solid. Yes, there are one or two minor scratches on the fairings... but it's 30 years old. Don't let the mileage put you off, this bike runs beautifully, comes off the choke quickly and smoothly, and rides great.
