Description
The car is a 2-litre Mark 2 Convertible with a retro-fitted (1997) overdrive. It was first supplied by Loxhams Garages Ltd of Kendal when it was Royal Blue according to its Heritage Certificate. I bought it from a private owner in Hampshire in 2016 and am the 11th keeper. The engine was changed in the distant past so the odometer probably shows the mileage since this was done, not the total. The car was repainted maroon in 1985 and repainted again, in its current Old English white with dark blue flashes, in 1998.
I have printed all the history I can find from many invoices I got with the car. I have kept all the invoices since then and they are all summarised on this history document - copy available by post or email.
I had the Rotaflex joints changed to safer CV joints. The car is generally in good condition: no visible rust, hood works with no damage to the fabric or perspex windows, no damage to seats, carpets or trim. Full tonneau cover and a short hood cover. There was some corrosion on the rear floor and this has been repaired with welding. Original RoStyle hub caps available but not currently fitted as they are not very secure. MOT to September with a few easy-to-correct advisories. The car was featured in the Triumph magazine, Club Torque, in January 2021 (copy available). This details problems - all now resolved with no recurrence - with the overdrive and contaminated petrol in the tank. I have enjoyed about 5, 000 miles in it but only a few hundred in the last two years which is why it's now time for someone younger to enjoy it. The car runs very smoothly with a few creaks on poor roads but no rattles. It usually averages 28mpg which is poor by modern standards but probably as good as when it was new. It doesn't use any measurable oil and I never have to top-up the radiator. The gear change and overdrive switch work well. The car has been well maintained by Tanworth Garage who specialise in classic cars.
Some photos, taken for insurance, have got cropped when uploading them -sorry!
