Description
1970 Chevrolet C10 step side, column change manual transmission.
imported in April 2021 from Las Vegas and that owner had driven it back from northern California without issues, not being a mechanic had trouble finding and affording vintage servicing and was using it less often. Listed on E-bay and accepted an offer from overseas I was the new owner.
The truck is in excellent condition and is as close to original as you will find, the only mods are the over sized wheels and tires being approx. 1" taller and 1" wider than stock. Two of the many smog vent lines have been capped off, one seen in the engine image ad12, but could be reconnected if you wanted. The rear bumper has been cut and reduced in length on both sides, see images, I can not find a listing for a step side rear bumper and the fleet side is 8"-10" longer so maybe just a cosmetic modification ?
The column change shifter is no problem and you will adapt by the time you get to third gear. The reversing light have been altered into the indicators with orange bulbs keeping the correct appearance. A Retro Sounds radio and dash speaker have fitted fitted also 3 point seat belts. The mounting holes are predrilled by Chevrolet but only lap belts fitted, the dash panel was cracked beyond repair, from the Nevada sun, so a new replacement fitted. The truck has had a respray at some time, outside only, so the interior is stock. The floor mat is a correct pattern but not sure if original, the seat covers are as no one that I have searched for list this style.
The engine is the 230 cubic inch straight six, about 3. 8lt. A full compression test and leak down test were done on arrival and May of this year, 2025, compression in2021, 145 to 155 psi rounded down and in 2025 171 to 178 exact reading with a newer tester.
Leak down in 2021, 10% to nearest 5%, and in 2025, 4% at 100psi best, and 15% at 96psi worst, using exact readings.
The milage is always an unknown on older vehicles so the above tests give an idea of engine condition and wear.
Where's the rust ? the only or worst is seen in the driver side door where the door contacts the rubber bumper on the door frame, I tried to photo the underside but couldn't get the camera in all the right place's, cab corner are original.
I had an MOT done August 2021 with no advisories and will retest before or when it sells. Any questions please ask or email for a test drive and inspection. I have a car lift so you can get to see the underside, bring a mechanic or body inspector if you want.
The price is £25, 000. 00, sounds a lot but is a very complete and rare truck, in excellent condition. It took me three attempts before an offer was accepted each one more than the previous, but I eventually succeeded.
If you are overseas or the far end of the UK please have a friend car appraiser or classic dealer come and inspect, video, test drive.
So why am I selling ?, now retired and with other cars to play with the funds don't stretch enough to cover them all, so this is a reluctant sale.
phone the details below or email at using the button below or text me your phone number as I would rather talk than press buttons.
thanks for your interest
