After 20 years ownership the time has come to part with my beloved Classic Range Rover.
It’s a March 1994 Vogue SE 3. 9 V8 ‘Softdash’ variant in Plymouth blue with grey leather.
Supplied new by Guy Salmon Thames Ditton it still wears its original dealer number plates.
MOT’d till November 2025.
Genuine reason for sale, moving house and need to downsize my collection.
I bought the vehicle from John Craddock in Cannock at 112, 000 miles, now showing 142, 000 miles I’ve done 30, 000 miles in last 20 years.
Seven previous owners, one being John Craddock. I’ve the DVLA history report issued prior to GDPR rules.
The car runs really nicely and is in great useable condition but it’s not perfect - there’s room for improvements mostly cosmetic, I’ve tried to give a frank honest description below.
Over the last couple of years I’ve noticed an increase in the amount of thumbs up this vehicle gets, it's become very cool!
I’ll be very sad to part with it, it truly feels like one of the family.

The good points;
It’s a desirable soft dash model in a great colour.
It’s the full spec ‘Vogue SE’ V8 auto version.
Broadly a very original car which are hard to find now.
Extensive history file covering past 20 years in my ownership with receipts for maintenance totalling over £23, 000. Maintained during the first 16 years of my ownership by Town and Country Land Rover of Leamington Spa and then after Mike and his team retired I switched to another local specialist.
I’ve done my best to keep the vehicle as original and unrestored as possible. When anything has needed to be replaced I’ve gone above and beyond to ensure it’s like for like and the correct OEM spec - for example the bonnet decals are the correct raised plastic letters only fitted to the softdash model.
During my ownership it’s had amongst other things a replacement bonnet, a replacement upper tail gate, new sills, inner wings addressed and all new front lights.
In the past 3 months the following work has been done - the air suspension has been completely renewed with new air springs from Aerosus and a Dunlop air compressor, the cooling system has been fully gone through with a new water pump and a new drive belt fitted.
In the past year the alloy wheels have been refurbished at great expense to the correct OEM spec (silver rims with body colour centres) with new wheel centres and 4x brand new Michelin XM&S tyres.
The central locking ECU has been refurbished with new remote fobs.
Working ice cold air con.
When I bought the vehicle it came with a LPG system with an 80 litre doughnut tank under the vehicle where the petrol tank would usually be found and a smaller 25 litre petrol tank to the side of it. I’ve kept the LPG system regularly serviced and it runs really nicely. The 80 litre tank returns about 180 miles around town.
As with all my cars, I’ve only ever run it on E5 premium petrol.
During my ownership the vehicle has been garage stored and not used when the roads are salty. When the car was last serviced I had the underside protected with Bilt Hamber Dynax underbody anti corrosion wax.
Inside the vehicle are OEM rubber mats, a period correct car phone, a period upgraded Kenwood radio cassette head unit with multi disc CD changer in the boot.
There is also a shooting drinks cabinet in the boot which I made myself one winter for a bit of fun, it gets a lot of admiring comments and is great for a day out shooting or a picnic.
All the luxurious refinements that come with the SE spec.

The not so good points;
The aluminium door panels and wings are showing considerable oxidation around the edges where they meet the steel - please see the photos. I decided I’d rather keep the bodywork original than have it restored.
The bottom of the inner near side rear door is rotten, the others are good.
The lower tail gate is generally good but has started to show a few small blisters and around the number plate lamps and the inner edge of the rear lights where the tail gate drops.
Headlining could do with replacement. This was going to be my next job at Nationwide trim Redditch but didn’t get round to it.
Drivers electric seat switch doesn’t work because the fuse was removed when it developed a conflict with the electric mirrors.
The cruise control is disconnected - this is normal when a LPG kit is fitted.
Near side puddle light in base of passenger front door is broken.
The interior courtesy light doesn’t work when you open the drivers door, i think it’s a faulty switch in the door shut.
If the vehicle doesn’t get regular use it gets a sticky tappet - it clears after regular use.

A fabulous, practical and appreciating classic ready to be enjoyed and used.
I’ve priced it to sell, should you wish to improve it further this could be a £20k+ car.
Genuine reason for sale - I’m moving house and need to downsize my collection.
Car is located 5 min from M40 J15 between Warwick and Stratford on Avon. I bought it because it was my dream car when I was a school kid. I love how they look, I love how they sound and I love how they are totally classless - you could be royalty or you could be a nobody.
Today they are uber cool, I get so many thumbs up in this car and people want to get a closer look. Park this next to a Lamborghini and this will get more looks.
They are becoming increasingly difficult to find in original unmolested condition especially at this price. The bad ones are disappearing fast and the good ones are appreciating. I wouldn’t be surprised if this vehicle doubles in value over the next 4-5 years.
I’ll be very sad to see it go but I’ve 7 vehicles and can’t keep them all.
