Description
For Sale - my 1964 Volvo Amazon 122S Estate
A superb example of a Volvo Amazon estate with many rare and original features.
The car runs, drives and stops perfectly, with overdrive so it can keep up with modern traffic easily.
It is rust-free, with excellent bodywork throughout. Paintwork is in excellent condition with only very minor imperfections, and the underside is also rust free, undersealed and with wheel arch guards. The engine bay is very clean and well presented.
78, 000 miles (believed to be correct). The B18 engine was rebuilt 8, 000 miles ago including an unleaded conversion and electronic ignition.
The interior is in excellent condition, coming with a dog-guard (an original dealer-fitted option?) and a period-correct roof rack. It was restored in 2012 by renowned Amazon specialist Tony Whitton for his wife, and has had much love and care lavished on it since then.
There is a comprehensive history file dating back to 2012. Recent mechanical work includes refurbishing the twin SUs, a new main seal, brake servo, fuel pump, rear hubs, central prop-shaft bearing & mounts, a new battery and much more. The front seats were recently renovated with new foam, elasticated straps and the seat covers restitched. It has passed regular MOT-standard annual checks by a classic car specialist and has been serviced regularly.
It features prominently in “Volvo Amazon: The Complete Story” by Richard Dredge, both on the cover and throughout the book, and will soon feature in an Autocar article.
