Description
This matching numbers YZ 360B produced in 1975 had been dry stored for over 22 years prior to me buying it in June 2023.
These machines were produced for only one year in very limited numbers and were extremely expensive at the time. They were virtual works machines that were available to the public.
The first single shock motocross suspension design (the mono shock) was introduced in 1974 but not sold until 1975.
These machines were earmarked for expert riders who were hand picked by each local Yamaha Dealer. These bikes were extremely successful when ridden by professional riders. Late in 1974 a special run of Yamaha YZ 250B and YZ 360B Monoshocks were sent to the USA, again to be ridden by expert riders, with many lightened parts and magnesium components, fibre glass air box and side panels, all to save weight.
This particular bike came back from the USA over 25 years ago, and was fully restored and then put away into dry storage.
When I purchased it in 2023 it was recommissioned and I have taken it to local Classic Bike Shows over the last 2/ 3 years where it has always attracted a lot of attention.
A very rare bike which would enhance any classic collection and could also be used in classic motocross events.
