Left with us to sell on behalf of its owner is this superb condition XT500 Yamaha. What can i say about it? Put it this way, if you wanted an XT500 you would think your Christmases had all come at once!
Originally sold new in 1982 in Doha Qatar, the original invoice is laminated and in its history file. Imported into the UK by its british owner and first registered, still on its Qatarian registration with 3512 kms or just 2195 miles on the clock. In its history file amongst various receipts etc are every MOT charting its ridiculously little usage. In 1998 it was placed onto its UK age related “ W” registration and the MOTs reflect that.
In 2007 it was taken off the road to have a full cosmetic refresh and still with only the equivalent of 15 thousand miles on the clock, yup an average of 620 miles a year. In 2010 it was back on the road with a properly calibrated and no MPH clock and MOTd at 254 miles. Those MOTs then run right through to its last on in 2021 when it became MOT exempt. Today it still has only 1492 miles on it, 383 miles a year since “Birth”.
While being a few years back, when the cosmetic refresh was done and may i add, using the correct “Chrystal Silver” colour, the code for it being sourced from Yamaha to get it right, it has had some more recent up-grades including a Yamaha TT500 spec exhaust to get rid of the massive silencer/ cat type thing from the original exhaust system. Works Performance rear shocks. Rebuilt wheels, new rims spokes etc shod with new tyres and the dual oil feed to its cylinder head conversion has been done. It also comes with its original indicators and rear foot rests included a bag of bits with other spare parts.
It starts very easily, as long as you stick to the XT5 starting procedure and being an 82 bike it has the spy glass to aid this. Mechanically it is spot on and needs nothing. G
