1925 AJS de Luxe Sporting Model E4.
Date of first registration February 1925.
V5 registered in my name.
A very original, solid, almost complete machine with matching engine and frame numbers that requires finishing.
The fuel tank has an ancient lead repair but is thick walled and solid; not the usual ground out, corrosion removed, paper thin wall renovations. Included are two fuel tank knee rubbers that are supple and in in great condition.
The exhaust pipe is new/ unused and only painted to deter corrosion before bracketing and chroming. Included is the old silencer that came with the bike.
The cylinder bore and new piston mate perfectly. The piston is grooved for gudgeon pin circlips but they are not installed. The big end, small end and main bearing bushes have no appreciable wear.
The gearbox is in good order. The original matching number gearbox casing has been replaced because of damage but the old case is included.
The hand controls are those that came with the bike; easier to use than inverted levers and twin air levers.
Included are two new front mudguard stays. The seat is original but the leather is 100 years old and fragile. The bike comes with gas generator, front light and an appropriate size wicker basket for the rack.
