Description
I have personally been driving the car for sale since 1992. I bought it at the time as a company demonstrator car from the Porsche Centre Hamburg. As I wanted to tow my catamaran myself from winter storage to the berth and back, I bought the car on the condition that the Porsche Centre install a detachable tow bar. My 944 S2 is the only Porsche I know of that has a detachable tow bar. It also has a 40% differential lock.
If the car has not been driven, it stood in a garage day and night.
The roof can be raised at the rear for ventilation electrically, or it can be completely removed by hand and placed in the boot.
The car has a complete service history up to its recognition as a classic car. Now a renewal of the timing belt (including tensioners and water pump) would be sensible. I would have that done. Alternatively you could arrange the work yourself. Then I would reduce the purchase price by €2, 000.
The TÜV plate has the vehicle without any issues in August 2025.
The classic car appraisal was prepared by DEKRA on 24 July 2020. It confirmed that no faults were found on the vehicle and that the vehicle meets the criteria of a classic car under § 23 StVZO.
On 8 September 2020 I had an appraisal carried out by the “ING. BÜRO NÜSS Classic Car Office”. The Porsche received a condition rating of “2 - 2. 3”. The market value was stated at €32, 000.
In November 2002, at a mileage of 177, 790, a complete engine overhaul was carried out because no new engine as a substitute was available. The old engine failed due to an oil change, where – without agreement – fully synthetic oil was used for the first time. The “new” engine has been operated exclusively with fully synthetic oil.
At a mileage of 211, 866 the gearbox was replaced.
All maintenance and repair records are available.
In town the consumption is about 13 l/ 100 km, on the open road including fast motorway driving about 10 l/ 100 km.
I am selling the car because I could not drive it recently due to knee and hip problems. I have now had both a new knee and a new hip. Unfortunately, getting in and out of the Porsche remains impossible. I have personally been driving the Porsche since 1992. It is the only Porsche I know with a detachable tow bar. Please also read the description above. Thank you.
