Description
I bought the P4 over 4 years ago from Mathewsons (Bangers and Cash) without viewing it. When it arrived the paintwork looked very tired but after a couple of days closely examining it the underneath was rock solid with just a few bits of welding done. It had also been fitted with new front and rear wings. When I sanded the body down for a respray there was no sign of rust or filler. All this was a credit to the previous owner(s) and a relief to me.
The car has had new track rods, a refurbished water pump, new shock absorbers front and rear, new weather seals on all doors and boot.
I fitted new Brockley front tyres 500 miles ago which made the steering lighter.
I replaced all the plastic material on the door cards, kick cards, rear parcel shelf and trim with real leather and then refurbished the seats to match the leather.
I used the tired boot trim as a template and made new ones which I covered in matching leather.
The car was resprayed 3 years ago in British Racing Green using synthetic coach enamel. The car shows lovely but it is my everyday driver so has some blemishes and touch ups.
The chrome looks original so has some pitting but presents very well.
I fitted a period radio with up to date technology internal workings, so it is able to receive all the available stations, plus it has the bonus of being able to connect and use a mobile phone.
I have treated the underneath with Lanoguard. This P4 is fitted with the more powerful 2, 600cc engine with working overdrive which makes everyday and motorway driving a pleasure.
It has an electronic ignition and starts on the button and it has a nice burble from the exhaust.
The car attracts a lot of attention and waves.
It has been pampered in my ownership and the only regrettable reason for selling is I have bought a Sunbeam Alpine which requires a lot of attention.
There is an original jack and tool tray with the car.
