Genuine Honda VTEC Solenoid Gasket + Sump Gasket - By R Automotive - November 2019An opportunity to own one of the most rare Honda Civic’s, with some sources stating only 598 Y56 EK9’s produced world wide, and 298 produced in 1999. This will be a lengthy advert, as the car has a lot of history, and I will try my best to capture everything to avoid wasting both my time and your time.

I bought this recently, as an impulse decision, and it was the best impulse decision I have made! What a car this is, and I understand why Honda gave it the title of the first ever Type R, possibly the best in my opinion. This one has some subtle mods which enhance the driving experience, but can easily be put back to standard if one wishes. By far the best FWD car I have driven! I bought it as a stop gap, while another one of my Honda’s was being restored. The only reason I am considering selling is so I can enjoy the restored Honda I have built along with the CRX I have as an investment. However, I know I will never find another Y56 EK9, and if it doesn’t sell, it can happily sit in my heated garage along with the others. It turns heads wherever it goes, the most amount of attention I have received in a Honda - And I have had several Honda’s over the years.

I have tracked previous images, sales adverts and information on the car, and this will be provided to the new owner.

There are many more receipts present, dating back years! Most include general wear and tear work including suspension, brakes, and services etc. But to avoid going into excessive lengths, I have summed up the most recent work above - Some duplication but parts were sourced separate, and labour for work done was separate, and I wanted to include both.

The car has been built to a very good standard, and still looks OEM! It is the perfect stance, lowered but not too much, and it doesn’t scrape anywhere! It pulls well through the gears, and the VTEC crossover sounds aggressive! Seriously clean EK9, maintained to the highest standard by reputable garages throughout its ownership.

The arches are clean, with the original spotwelds showing, along with the sills and chassis, completely rust free! Bodywork is very clean for a car of this age. Having owned many Honda’s over the years including an FD2, EG9, CRX, EK’s and MB’s, I can honestly say this is one of the best I have driven, a true Honda driving experience, turns more heads than my FD2 did!

It is priced well in my opinion, considering clean EK9’s are rising in value, and Genuine Y56 examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find! With the only one advertised on forums at 20k! I understand purists may be after one in stock form, but the mods are all bolt on, and can easily be replaced with stock parts leaving you with a surplus of cash in return! However, driving this, you will realise as I did, that the driving experience is enhanced, and the modifications done compliment the car.

Mileage may go up slightly, as I enjoy it on dry days, providing we do get dry days given summer is coming to an end. It stays in my heated garage and doesn’t see a drop of rain! Test drives will be done by myself, only on a dry day!
