Description

• Low miles, only 62, 400 on the clock
• One owner for over 20 years who money-no-object cared for it
• Now part of a classic car collection
• New DMGRS head gasket this year
• Wedgewood blue body work in superb condition
• Underneath looks excellent too
• Huge history
• Reluctant sale due to lack of storage

This Rover 75 has been well cared for its whole life, and its excellent condition reflects this. The panels are not dinged and it has very few stone chips or marks in the paint and no bubbling on the bodywork

It is in Wedgewood Blue, the prefect colour for a 75, and has the 16" Union alloy wheels. I have upgraded the interior with earlier real wood dashboard and matching wood and leather steering wheel.

It was registered to Rover Management for its first few months before being sold as approved used by Beadles of Gillingham in Kent where its long term owner bought it, keeping the car until he gave up driving and sold it to his mechanic who bought it to help him out before selling it to me, a Rover collector as id never had a 75 and wanted to try one, only planning to keep it briefly but loved it too much and kept it until lack of space has forced me to part with it.

It has extensive service history, and comes with a couple of folders of receipts but notably as well as regular services, the bumpers and roof have been repainted to take care of parking scuffs and the common lacquer failure 75s suffer from, and the previous owner had the head gasket changed, and the garage fitted a new head however I have changed the head gasket again this year so it has a new water pump and timing belt.

The car is MOTd to December but I can have a fresh one done on request as I have no doubts about it passing with no issues.

Under the car is in remarkable condition, the sills and floor pans look superb and the rear trailing arms look good, which are known for rusting, and I loaded them with Alphalan and Ive sprayed the floor with it too.

Ive checked the scuttle drains several times in my ownership and the scuttle area is dry, and Ive mostly kept it dry stored under a car port, and suspect the previous owner did too.

I have loved owing this car, and any issue thats come up I have addressed. If could find the space for this I would keep it, but sadly I have too many cars and projects, and as this works perfectly it sadly has to find a new home, and one I hope will enjoy and care for it as much as I and the previous owner have. It's always interesting to look back through a cars history and see where it came from, and seeing the name Rover as the first owner is quite exciting. We dont know exactly who had the 75 at Rover or where it was based, but just having the company name on the log book is interesting.

Having been sold as approved used at just a few months old the next owner kept it over 20 years, until he gave up driving in his late 80s, but had clearly been doting on the car as the condition and thick folder of receipts attest.

He sold it when, after taking it for its MOT (which it passed with no advisories) he decided to hang up his keys and took it back to the local garage and asked the mechanic to take the car off his hands, so they obliged to help him and when I came in they knew I love Rovers so persuaded me (it didnt take much) to buy it from them.

Over the last 2 years or so that Ive had it, I have tried to un-Project Drive it, giving it a full size alloy spare wheel, real wood dash board and matching wood and leather steering wheel.

Mechanically Ive kept it serviced and this year changed the head gasket for one from DMGRS which are known to solve the well known issues, and the previous owner had a new head fitted a few years ago.

Work done:

This year:

Head Gasket
Timing belt
Water pump
even the in-tank fuel filter!

Last year

spark plugs
coil packs
new battery

The bad parts worth noting are:

The drivers seat base has some stitching come undone between the main cushion and the outer edge, not serious and Im told not a hard repair for a trimmer.

The boot lacquer has fine lines appearing, another common Rover 75 issue

The passenger door fabric is baggy, I have taken it off and reglued it previously but its happened again
