1992 Mercedes Benz 300 SL-24 (R129)
Signal Red over Anthracite black leather, 84, 707 miles. Full service history with Mercedes specialists, if anything has ever needed doing, it’s been done, with a thick folder of invoices to show for it.
This car has been garage-stored and properly winterised each year. Underneath it’s in excellent order with very little rust, and it presents superbly all round. The wheels were professionally refurbished last year, and it’s running a matching set of Pirelli tyres fitted in 2020, still with plenty of tread left (approx. 7, 000 miles on them).
The 300 SL-24 is the more desirable version of the 3. 0 R129, with the 3. 0-litre DOHC M104. 981 straight-six producing 231 bhp. Strong, smooth, and one of Mercedes’ most reliable engines. This car is fitted with the rare 722. 5 gearbox (4-speed auto with overdrive 5th), which makes for relaxed cruising.
Hydraulic soft-top works well; the soft top fabric itself is good, though the rear plastic window has a split. The removable hardtop is included and in good condition. Interior is Anthracite black leather, clean and tidy throughout.
Extras include the original sales brochure and a rare factory mechanics manual. A lovely, honest example of the R129 SL, well cared-for and ready to be enjoyed.
