Description
1972 Triumph 2000 Mk2
Recently imported from South Africa where it was assembled at the Leyland Blackheath factory. This Triumph is a true survivor in nice solid original condition never having been welded and having seen the benefit of always being in the hot dry inland climate of Gauteng Province.
Usually the trade off with hot climate cars is that the interior and plastic crack but this car has the original dash in excellent condition, no cracks or imperfections, the wood facia and door caps are in nice very condition and likewise the vinyl seats show little sign of wear at all evidencing the indicated mileage of just 57, 000 is more than likely the total mileage travelled (but not warranted). It even has the original Leyland logo'd drivers floor mat and rear screen dealer sticker.
The rare South African only factory paint colour is called Avocado and suits the car really well. Mostly still in original paint there are a couple of areas where the clear/ topcoat laquer has worn off due to heat of the sun. There were slight differences in spec. and the Mk1 wheels are an example plus vinyl seats instead of velour.
The engine has been serviced, carbs balanced and it is running and driving really well having done some good test miles to local shows although note the overdrive is not working and exhaust is blowing slightly - price reduced accordingly and is firm.
More videos available on request to show interior and start up/ running.
