Description
I am looking for a new owner for this car which I have owned for 47 yrs. It is an original Lotus and was my road car back in the day and I still have the original V5.
Since then I have adapted it for racing, I built it up over several years and raced mainly with the CTCRC (Classic Touring Car Racing Club) and the CSCC (Classic Sports Car Club) from 2006 up until Covid. Now it is time for someone else to have some fun.
Mechanically it is sound and the body work is good but it is a race car.
I have tried lightening everything, Fibreglass bonnet and front wings, perspex windows all round except the front, aluminium fuel tank, I have 2 sizes depending on the length of race, Minilite wheels (I also have a spare set)
It has all the usual mods to race, Steel crank, balanced and lightened pistons, big valve head, QED race cams, running on twin 45 weber's, H&H electronic ignition, alternator, lightened flywheel, twin sintered clutch plates, hydraulic clutch on first motion shaft.
Gearbox straight cut gears (dogbox), aluminium bell housing & tail shaft, the centre part (gear cluster) is magnesium, short shift gear lever.
Rear axle LSD 3. 9 aluminium diff casing, quaife half shafts
Brakes Front - Wilwood twin pot on vented discs, - Rear standard 7" drums (they were good enough)
The brakes are a dual line system, the fronts are independent from the rear with brake biasing adjustable behind the brake pedal.
Suspension adjustable damping all round, single leaf springs at the rear.
Large aluminium radiator with built in oil cooler
As a lockdown project I reinstated the heater after a full overhaul expecting to use on track days but this could easily be removed. This was a very quick car on the road and still turns heads now.
It's been raced at a number of venues throughout the UK
