Toying with the idea of selling my lovely 1988 Honda City Express/ Scoopy sh50. I’ve owned this beauty for a little while now and she’s been great. She was my daily rider for a couple of months but now other bikes are taking priority.
I bought the bike as a non runner found in the bottom of a garden, in my ownership she’s had a very extensive refurbishment, not quite nut and bolt rebuild but not far off either. This has included but is not limited to:
Complete cvt rebuild using only the finest Malossi parts, lightweight rollers for better acceleration, new malossi belt, variator opened and cleaned of grease and the whole cvt system thoroughly cleaned.
Complete carburettor rebuild, all parts ultrasonically cleaned and blown out with compressed air, new vacuum fuel tap and all new vacuum, fuel and oil lines.
Front and rear brake shoes replaced and all mating surfaces throughly cleaned with citric acid and sanded down, could eat your dinner off them. All brake elements dismantled and cleaned.
New 12v battery and acid, wiring loom completely cleaned, all bulbs replaced and everything works as it should from electric start to oil light.
Kickstart mechanism removed, cleaned, greased and refitted. All works a treat.
New seat off one of my donor bikes, couple of tiny cracks in but so much better than the one that came on it.
New fairings and an INTACT leg shield (find another one, you won’t!)
Oxford top box with 2 keys.
I have all the paperwork, v5 and 3 keys. Get yourself a lovely little 2 stroke ripper, takes my not so petite frame up to 40mph and will sit there all day. Recently did a 250+ mile day around the Peak District and handled snake pass, winnits pass, cat and fiddle etc like it was nothing.
Edit: I have today (24/ 09) cleaned the carb and spark plug and now starts up first kick every time.
Make me an offer! I can only say no, I’m a student now with a 79 express and a 675 Daytona and realistically I just don’t use this bike enough to keep her.”l, but equally if she doesn’t sell I’ll just whack her in the garage, only going one way in value! Soon to be MOT/ Tax exempt.
