Description
Please persist with the advert I’m sorry for the length but I just want to do her justice.
I have owned her since May 2017, I bought her from her previous custodian down in east Peckham, Kent. He was her first U. K owner after she had been imported from Las Vegas, Nevada.
When I bought her, for the first couple of years I persisted with her original 1600 engine. Although I didn’t have any problems with it I felt I needed just that little bit more power on the inclines with one eye on a future European road trip - I had a complete new upgraded 1776 engine made by a well respected VW engine company in Birmingham. I do not pretend to be an engine expert, or Vw expert at that, but it is an all singing all dancing model.
I had the original 1600 engine removed and boxed up, I still have it boxed up in my lock up - It will go with any Peggy sale. I feel it only fitting the engine should stay with the van.
I have maintained her regardless of cost and the upgrades I have made have been sympathetic and could more than easily be reversed by any future owner.
The work carried out has always been carried out by well respected VW mechanics, I have travelled the country having her looked after.
She is stored completely dry in my unit all year round.
Currently, she is in her ‘off road’ look, complete with bike rack, All Terrain BF Goodrich tyres with upgraded shocks, roof rack and outdoor solar shower, she also has a Fiamma awning attached to the side of the van that extends the living area out of the van.
Last summer I did a wedding and in a mornings work she was stripped back of her mean look and put back to stock.
All of the upgraded shocks, all terrain tyres and work associated with getting Peggy to this stage was carried out by one of the leading UK VW mechanical companies - ‘Type 2 Detectives’
She has 110 hook up, a fridge, rock n roll bed, bed up the top in the westfalia roof, sink, and plenty of storage.
She has seen her fair share of the UK campsites and car shows and holds her own at any event. I have chauffeured on a handful of wedding days with Peggy.
But, most notably in 2019 my wife and I took a 3 month break and embarked on our European road trip passing through - France, Sardinia, Sicily, Mainland Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Holland and back home. She did not miss a beat on that trip and we experienced some amazing places that we could have only found sitting in the driver and passenger seat of Peggy. One of the places we visited was so amazing we went back after Covid and got married there!
Everywhere we have been in Peggy, she has attracted attention from people of all ages. If you have never had a VW camper before, then one of the perks of being an owner is the instant smile it brings to people either passing you on a country lane, or even over taking you from the queue behind you.
I will say, this van is not concourse condition, she is a 54 year old camper who has travelled really really well, who would hold her own at any show, draw a crowd at any wedding or have other VW camper owners in awe as you go across a field at your campsite completely riding the bumps. If you are looking for something that is concourse, or you are a purist then I do not believe Peggy is for you. There are some other amazing buses for sale on here. I believe Peggy’s next custodian will know her the minute they see her.
I have a genuine reason for sale and have tried to represent her in the best way I can.
I may consider a PX with cash my way.
