Description

1959 Fiat-Abarth 750 Berlina Derivazione

PRICE DROP TO £20, 250 OR I CAN DISCOUNT IT A FURTHER 1, 750 with the following original parts put back on - steel wheels with very good tyres, steering wheel, passenger seat and fibreglass race seat as it was when I bought the car as in the final few pictures added to the album and without the Marshal spot lights and vintage battery cut off switch. Alternative shown in last picture. There are also original Fiat 600 front and rear seats on eBay if you fancy going in that direction (not mine).

Sold new in Colorado US, before undergoing refurbishment in the late 1980s. Subsequently further restored and modified for racing in the early 2000s including the addition of a rear roll bar, Koni shocks, lowered suspension and upgraded brakes. It participated in various vintage racing events (eg Portland Historics) from 2004 through 2006 now fitted with a replacement Fiat 100-series inline-four tuned by the top fiat specialists in US PBS Engineering (I am told it is a Fiat 850 Spider 903cc enlarged to 990cc).

The bumpers have been removed, and further exterior details include a bullet-style driver-side mirror, rear-hinged suicide doors, and decklid stand-offs to assist with engine cooling. Original Marchal spot lights.

A bakerlite vintage external electrical cut-off switch is located at the base of the driver-side A-pillar, and the bonnet is secured using Abarth rubber draw latches along with pins at the rear.

Paintwork - older restoration, great body and good paint, with some small imperfections consistent with age. Zero rust or bubbling etc.

On the inside, there are fixed back hand-made aluminium seats (Porsche 356 costing >£2000 with leather cushions (on adjustable rails) with multi-point race harnesses. Original passenger seat and fixed driver race seat come with the car.

Stripped interior with rubber matts. Padded rear roll bar, and a fire extinguisher.

Abarth dash with original rev counter (not working - modern race rev counter installed on A pillar).

Vintage wooden “Personal” steering wheel and original Abarth horn button.

No rear seats.

Brightwork and glass are complete and good.

Chassis / Underside - structurally excellent with expected age-related patina. No rust issues. See pictures.

Brand new 13” Campagnolo replica wheels and 155Rx 13 Michelin Cinturato tyres.

Engine starts easily hot or cold, is very responsive and runs strong. New custom stainless exhaust with duck mouth (£1000). Twin-choke carburettor, uprated intake and exhaust components.

Runs nice and cool - radiator shutter present and refitted with additional mid mounted Abarth aluminium radiator and cooling pipes.

Fully serviced engine and oils changed including in transaxle.
4-speed manual gearbox. New shift rod linkage connector so no sloppy gear stick!

Good brakes and suspension. Lowered firm suspension - handles great.

Acquired as US import in 2024. V5 in my name (all taxes paid etc). Comes with old US VSCCA log book.

The 1959 Fiat-Abarth 750 Berlina Derivazione was an example of Carlo Abarth’s first upgrades to a Fiat platform (Fiat 600). Limited (?) factory cars, mostly kits.

The car is ready for a new caretaker who appreciates small-displacement Italian racing heritage!

Letter of authenticity from leading Abarth restorer Stephen Knee in US (former owner). See photo of listing in the Italian Car Registry.

Great originality and usability balance value in these cars. Not a concours-restored example, but this Berlina Derivazione is a genuine slice of 1950s Abarth history and offers entry into vintage Italian motoring and racing at a more approachable level than Zagato-bodied variants.
