Description
The car is running a Ford 351 Windsor motor with an MSD ignition system and Holley performance intake and carburettor paired to a Tremec T5 manual transmission, which results in a very period correct and spirited driving experience. The car was rebuilt over 5 years to it's current finish which was completed in 2024, and has only covered 2600km since.
The exterior has one significant difference to ‘GPG 4C’ in the choice of opting for 4 into 1 stainless steel side pipes. The wheels are 15” Compomotive HB500 2-piece Halibrand replicas, featuring bespoke aluminium plugs to hide wheel nuts for a more authentic look. The beautiful twin buttress hardtop is a removable item.
Interior has period correct seats with 4-point harnesses and modern Smiths gauges installed in a dash finished in black Alcantara. This is a second owner vehicle since first build. The original build began in the early 1980s based on the South African KCC kit, which runs Jaguar suspension. The build was completed with a Holden/ GM 308ci V8.
The vehicle was purchased by current owner in 2019, in a semi disassembled state, due to original owner carrying out changes to the passenger cell for increased legroom. Unfortunately, the passing of the owner left the car incomplete.
The current owner shared a close friendship with the builder through their shared passion for Cobras. They both began building Cobras in the early 1980s, with one only completing this listed car, and the current owner having completed two additional builds, both of which were exported to Germany.
This Cobra was re-built as a tribute to the legendary ‘GPG 4C’ car owned Grahame and Oliver Bryant and campaigned by in historic racing in Europe. Most notably the body features the three slot vents behind the front wheels which hark back prior to a rebuild of’ GPG 4C’ following the accident at the 2011 Goodwood Revival. As well as the brake ducts in the rear fenders.
