Description
Lovely oak green 5-door 1991 Mk2 GTI 16v with GTI ENGINEERING engine conversion. Carried out by Brodie Brittain Racing of Brackley who are approved by the VW factory to update their engines, the engine had the RE2000 conversion to bore the engine up to 2100cc & up from standard 130bhp to 170bhp. A steel crankshaft, new cylinder block, bearings, pistons, cylinder head, inlets, manifold, springs and modified injection system. The conversion was done in 1997 when the engine had 93k on the clock so the new engine has only covered 60k in 18yrs. A replacement instrument cluster has been fitted but I have the original with other original parts (old binnacle shows 160k miles). Apart from a stainless exhaust and new Blaupunkt Bremen retro 80's style head unit & bee-sting aerial with DAB, streaming and phone prep the car has been kept sympathetically original. Adjustable shocks. Good overall paintwork, winding sunroof, electric windows, rear headrests, recent new rainbow seat trims with no wear, upgraded LED instrument cluster bulbs so nice and bright, new 4x Continental Eco Sport tyres. 12 month MOT, recent service, new 2x rear Monroe shocks, Waxoil underseal, 2 large invoices shown as I have replaced many ancillaries to renew and keep the car excellent mechanically and very reliable. Brand new Yuassa battery with 5yr guarantee. New ignition system, cooling system including radiator & cabin heater blower unit. A huge filed full service history with EVERY invoice dated back to 1995 in chronological order and also adverts of past vehicle sales. 3 keys. 6 previous owners. ITEMS THAT REQUIRE ATTENTION; sagging original headliner over rear seats, small stone chips have been touched-up over the years and would benefit with a visit from Chips Away/ similar. Small cigarette burn on carpet next to drivers seat from back in the day but will repair. Rubber door seals are starting to perish-replacements will be supplied in the sale, slightly bent original parcel shelf but complete. Alloys could benefit with a refurb'. That's all! It's a great car and gets thumbs up and looks each time I take it out. I have kept it dry garaged in my 6yrs of ownership and I like to think I have sorted all of the mechanical gremlins I inherited by replacing parts back to original/ higher standards. The engine bay is lovely and clean and just looks right! Please feel free to ask any questions. As a kid I always thought this was peak car. The straight angles at the front, 4 headlights and oak green is just the business!
