Description

This car is part of my 94 year old uncles estate as he died a year ago. The 3 series BMW is a four door saloon, manufactured in Germany and driven to Athens, Greece in 1987. It’s left hand drive, in excellent condition inside and out and my uncle has been the only owner. Prior to his death the car was running great but has not been driven for a few years. There's no rust, factory paint in excellent condition, all original parts, the seats and floor mats are like new as they are still covered with the original seat covers and floor mats. The dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks. The trim is unusual. Some extras that were purchased at the time include central locking, air conditioning, automatic aerial, and radio cassette player. The clutch has been replaced with the original in the boot. There are no oil drips from the engine. It has service history and documentation and has always parked in a closed garage in Piraeus.

The selling price has been dramatically reduced for this classic to give the new owner lots of leeway to get the car up and running again. It will need a battery, a service, a fuel filter, and maybe a petrol pump service. From the information on the metal VIN/ data plate:
• Manufacturer: Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW)
• Model: BMW 316
• Country of Manufacture: Made in West Germany
• Weight data:
• Gross vehicle weight: 1480 kg
• Gross train weight: 2680 kg
• Front axle: 755 kg
• Rear axle: 640 kg

Identification Summary
This is a BMW 316, part of the E30 series, built around 1985 - 1987. The 316 was the entry-level version of the E30 3 Series, fitted with a 1. 6L 4-cylinder engine (engine code M10 or later M40 depending on year).

The BMW E30 is often considered a “modern classic” or collectible car for the following reasons :
1. Historical significance & enthusiast following
The E30 generation of the BMW 3 Series is well regarded among collectors and BMW enthusiasts for its balance of driving dynamics, simplistic mechanical layout (relative to modern cars), and timeless styling.
2. Parts availability & community
Because many survive and parts are still available (or reproduced), restoring or maintaining an E30 is more feasible than many true vintage cars.
