I’m selling my 1991 318is as I have just bought an e46 m3 now I can finally insure one.
Currently the e30 is in my only garage space hence the sale. Still being driven occasionally.
The 318is is indeed a special thing. Colloquially known as the ‘baby m3’ due to its rev happy 4 cylinder and balanced chassis, it certainly is a desired classic among enthusiasts.
This example is high mileage but well cared for. I have a large amount of history for this vehicle and have spent a lot of time money and effort to keep it roadworthy and clean.
Previous owners also have been passionate in keeping the car tidy and mechanically sound.
Some of the work done to the car has been for performance. A scorpion back box, ecu tune and wider throttle bodies result in a more responsive torquey feel throughout the rev range and a purple tag steering rack has been swapped in for a more modern steering feel as the originals were slow steering racks. The purple tag is 3 turns lock to lock. Overall the original feel has been enhanced and captured brilliantly.
Maintenance has been thorough. Recently the wheel bearings, suspension ( bilstien b12 kit), bushes (every single one done), brake lines, steering linkage, steering rods, break and fuel lines, brake discs and pads fuel tank and pump, valve cover gasket, welding in the engine bay for a small hole. Bonnet resprayed.
To summarise, this car has been maintained to the point it has never left me stranded. On occasion I have needed to leave it one the drive way or at the garage for planned works but it has always been dependable.
The list of maintenance through its life is exhaustive, anyone wanting to look through it will find it may take a little while.
I will be sad to see this car go. But for me to keep two 3 series BMWs is slightly insane even for a BMW enthusiast like myself.
