Description
Produced only between 1994 and 1995, the special model 318iS Class II 2, available only as a saloon, is a genuine automotive rarity.
Produced in just 2, 500 units, from chassis number FK03771 to FK06696, of which 1, 500 were destined for the German market alone, meaning around a thousand were distributed to the rest of the world.
Built concurrently with the M3 GT, it reprises some of the stylistic refinements typical of the model. In addition to the standard M package, the front bumper could accommodate an “M lip” with GT flaps and 2 types of rear spoilers, one more restrained and one more racing.
Other model peculiarities were the “BMW Motorsport International” logos on the side skirts, the lightweight alloy wheels with round spokes wearing ZR 16 225/ 55 tyres and the lowered M sport suspension (proven on the Nürburgring).
Inside, the sports seats with MSport-dedicated weave offer the best lateral support, and the leather sporty steering wheel with an enlarged rim ensures a firm grip on the wheel.
As for the engine, the M42, with four-valve technology, before being reserved for this model, was generally used only in motorsport, for example in the BMW M1, M635 CSI and M3, etc.
The example we offer of the BMW 318 IS Limited Edition MSport (1/ 2, 500 units) presents itself in the striking Arctic Blue colour with dedicated interiors and is fully preserved with only 59, 000 KM on the clock.
Registered in September 1994 in Italy, a country from which it has never left, and complete with ASI certification, it proves ideal for both everyday use and as a collector’s item.
