Here we have for sale my 1994 S1 106 Rallye. It has 125k on the clock (will go up slowly as I’m still driving it on occasion) and as far as I can tell it is all original, apart from being lowered a bit at the rear (maybe at the front as well?)
The 30+ years this car has been around are captured in the patina of the bodywork. There are odd dents here and there, and together with fading paint and a repainted roof from some time in the past, there are at least five different shades of red. Note also the lacquer is peeling on the near side, under the windows. This is a car to be driven without worry about the paintwork, the main reason that I originally bought it!
The interior is all original, including a working radio, and is really comfortable. Note that there are a couple of what look like small cigarette burns in the seats, but they aren’t very prominent. It feels weird to write this, but sitting in it takes me straight back to the 205 GTi’s that I had back in the 90’s, not just the design, but That Peugeot Smell. You’ll know exactly what I mean if you’ve had the chance to drive a Peugeot from the 90’s!
Since I bought this about three years ago I’ve done a range of maintenance and restoration. First up was a cam belt, water pump and general TLC at Pug1off in Brackley, followed by a strip down and restoration of the rear of the car. This involved removal of the multiple previous patch repairs in both rear wheel arches, and welding in of proper replacement metal. At the same time the underneath of the rear was painted and the rear beam suspension was swapped for a refurbished unit (again supplied by Pug1off, who set the splines to the same slightly lowered position). The centre exhaust section has been replaced, as well as the exhaust manifold and it runs very nicely, starting easily first time on the key (new battery as well). It has had a service at the end of October 2025, again at Pug1off, and the MOT is due August 2026.
I have some history with the car that I believe backs up the recorded mileage. There have been 13 previous owners (lol) so that makes me number 14, and I have two keys that operate all door locks and ignition. Clearly some previous owners have cherished this car, as have I, and it is now time for the next owner to marvel at the way it rides, drives and goes around a corner.
