Description
Yamaha XJ750 Seca. I have owned this machine for nearly 10 years now and it has been great fun, I bought it as a good mechanical runner but a bit scruffy and so worked on tidying it up with new paint, changing the tired silver to white, (V5 updated with colour change).
I have had much done over the years including new clutch, Carb rebuild and various other work including new shims. Please see pictures of the bills and work done. It is fitted with a period correct Giuliari seat which is very comfortable. I have also fitted a small fairing which really helps at motorway speeds. It has been serviced regularly and kept in a garage whilst in my ownership and although I have used it during the winter I always clean it after every trip. I have been on many trips in the UK on it and to Europe a couple of times and it doesn't use a drop of oil. The seat is low so it will suit a shorter leg but being 6'2" I find it extremely comfortable. Being shaft drive there is no chain to worry about and I always change the diff oil when I service it annually. As you can see from the pictures there are now some small jobs cosmetically to do to get it back to how it was a few years ago but nothing too difficult and parts are readily available via various classic parts suppliers and through a well known auction website. I am selling the bike only because I have hip issues in my old age and find it a little heavy for me now. The bike has been ridden regularly which I think is why it still runs so well, managing motorway speeds with ease. Everything electrical works and it has the computer dash which checks the systems when you first start up. There is a battery warning showing but that relates to the probe that was fitted to the old battery to warn of low fluid level and does not fit modern batteries. I keep the bike on a trickle charger when not being used to keep the battery in a healthy condition. The bike is now over 40 years old and therefore Road Tax and MOT exempt, the last MOT expiring in August this year and I have the MOT paperwork going back to 2013. Bridgestone tyres fitted quite recently with plenty of life left in them too. This is a UK model and has matching frame and engine numbersI have thoroughly enjoyed the 10 years I have owned this machine and will be sad to see it go but I think this is an excellent and cheap way into the classic bike world with something a little more unusual which draws attention when I have taken it to classic bike meets. It can be ridden as it is over the winter and then, if desired, be smartened up over time.
