Description
New lower price, which is now a real bargain !
A new bonnet costs £2000+ and this car has an 'as new' rust-free bonnet that has only been used on the road for approximately 1 year.
Restoration project, with a fully rolling chassis, mainly completed for the new owner to fit out as a Road Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt Triumph Spitfire or use as the basis for a Kit Car !
All welding done to good standard and the car has been almost fully sprayed (only doors not painted (paint supplied) or re-fitted) in 1960's Corvette Cascade Green to a reasonably good, but not perfect standard.
The car comes with an up to date V5c log Book. This document is in my friend's name and private address in Biggin Hill, Outer London.
Last driven and MOT'd in 2008/ 9.
Dry garage stored since then.
Owned by my retired friend since he bought it in 2017. He is now suffering health problems and cannot complete the restoration, hence the sale.
The body tub has been restored over the last 3 years with the following brand new panels fitted, which cost over £500 to purchase.
Driver's side rear wing, Driver's side floor pans and Drivers side inner and outer sills.
The full Bonnet assembly was replaced with a brand new one in 2007 and the car was taken off the road one year later - it is still in perfect rust free condition, with no filler or repairs anywhere - new ones now cost over £2000 !
The chassis is very solid and does not need any welding.
The suspension, steering and brakes are all fitted and seem to be in good condition, with new discs, etc.
The wheels are period alloys, possibly Wolfrace ?
The overdrive 3 rail gearbox has been fully stripped and reconditioned as required in 2019 by a very well respected TSSC member who is a superb mechanic !
The engine has been run and seems to be in good working order.
The full exhaust system has a 4 branch manifold with twin rear sports pipes.
Basically, most parts are present for the new owner to service and/ or simply refit.
The exception is the soft top hood and frame which was scrapped by the previous owner and has never been replaced. These regularly come up for sale, as do hard tops. 1972 Triumph Spitfire Mk4 1300 with almost all of the parts to complete.
Most of the hard/ dirty work i. e. the welding and painting, apart from the doors, has been completed. Bolt it all together and you will have a very good Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt Spitfire Mk4 1300 for very little money .
Alternatively, this could be a superb basis for building a Kit Car.
