Here is my classic mini thats very reluctantly being put up for sale, mainly due to family situations changing and me needing to sell a few non critical vehicles.
Details
- 1980 Austin mini - lovely resto mod with very tasteful upgrades and modifications.
- Tax and mot exempt due to being over 40 years old. Was MOT’d last year for peace of mind and can put another MOT for new buyer if required.
- Mileage 79000 - although this cannot be trusted due to the car having a replacement instrument cluster and new engine.
- Just completed a full nut and bolt restoration
- Always been garaged since restoration
The body
The car have undergone a full bare mental restoration during my ownership, with the shell being blasted back to metal before all welding required being carried out. At this stage it was built back up with an early front end. The rear end was also updated to mk1 lights and tailgate to remain in keeping. Essentially it now mk2 styling (eg old front and rear end with internal door hinges).
It has been painted old English white, with the underside, arches and floors (boot and inside cabin) being painted with raptor hard coating, tinted with the same paint as the body.
The interior
The interior is a genuine mk1 red interior with central Speedo instrument cluster.
One of the seats was repaired with new old stock material to ensure it matched well. The doors cards and carpets are new.
Engine
It’s now running a rebuilt 1275 engine that’s had recent rings and full tune up. It’s running a Webber carb with a short swan neck manifold so that the bulkhead would not have to be cut. It has updated electric fuel pump. All auxiliary comments are brand new or restored.
Suspension and chassis
Fully powder coated subframes with all brand new suspension components. It has brand new krubber donuts, hilos, adjustable tie rods and camber brackets. It has the Mini Cooper brake disc and caliper setup to allow fitment of 10inch wheels. Full Goodridge braided brake hoses and all the brake pipes replaced with new copper lines and fittings.
It is fitted with brand new 10” minilights and Yokohama Advan A032R tyres.
There is probably tonnes I have missed but I hope the pictures tell the full story. I have pretty much every receipt for all the work I have had done on this car during its restoration and I have many, many pictures taken throughout the process.
Minor points of note
Currently the temperature gauge is not working, but I will try have this fixed before the sale.

It’s hard to price a mini in the current market but considering the amount of work and money that’s gone into this car I think 11250 is a fair asking price. I am open to sensible offers.
