I have owned this 1 of 8 HLE (on how many left) 1982 Mini since 2021, covering c. 1500 miles to various owners club meets. I purchased the mini from the estate of a friend's deceased father.
Unfortuntaly the paperwork during his tenure was miss placed so I only had what was left in the glove box, which was a few old MOT's and receipts. My purchase inspection highlighted original panels, with no welding or repairs to note. Both the inspector and I believing this to reflect in the indicated low mileage stated on the odometer and online MOT foot print. Q
The previous owner improved the perfomacnce of the engine by upgrading the valve springs and a performance exhaust- enhasing the all round drivabilty and improved sound.
In addition to that I have upgraded the front drum brakes to modern day age, disc brake conversion kit from Wood and Picket and sub £1, 000.
I have modified the rear tail lights to a set of Wood and Pickets Mk1s set at c £1, 000. This ages the rear and adds character imo - the original set is included.
Furthermore I have apllied the ageless number plate "924 CLH" which is available for an additional £1500).
The interior is standard HLE seats, but has the Wooden Picket Walnut kit and smaller steering wheel. The interior is absolutely immaculate as you can see from the images.
The wheels are non-standard alloys but are from the appropriate period.
I have registered the vehicle for historic status so no more MOT's or road tax.
NEWS FLASH .. just renewed the MOT passed with no advisories for your peace of mind. The mileage shows around 20, 000 which I cannot totally verify but I believe the panels are all original and they wouldnt have survived this long if it had a load more miles or not been well cared for. I have kept the mini dry storage for 4 years along with the previous owner- confirming the lack of overal rust.
