Volvo 940
This was originally a car from middle England so doesn't have the usual rust problems associated with cars from Scotland.... They don't use as much salt on the roads down there in the winter as they do up here in Scotland... So if buying a classic car or anything 20 years old or more make sure it's an English car. ( That's my Tip of the week )

Volvo 940SE Estate 1995.. Mileage 116, 000 .. 5 speed manual ( not 4 on the stick and an overdrive button )

This is a Non Turbo Volvo Estate with a long 11 month MOT which it passed with one advisory, that being (the exhaust system slightly corroded) as one would expect on a 30 year old vehicle in fact on any vehicle over 18 months old unless it's got a Stainless Steel exhaust.
The car sits nice and level which would suggest that it hasn't had a hard life.
The car drives nicely, starts on the button, brakes in a straight line from 50 or 60 without pulling left or right, I have tried it with one finger on the steering wheel and I can honestly say it stops spot on.

I have had many Volvo's over my lifetime ( last 3 pics was my last one ) and for a normally aspirated 940 this one goes very well, that well that you wouldn't know that it's not a turbo and to be honest its probably only about a second slower in it's 0 to 60 time which you wouldn't really notice unless you were timing it with a stop watch.
Anyway that's not what these Volvo's are about is it?

This 1995 Volvo 940SL in Green metallic is a stunning blend of classic Scandinavian build quality. Underneath the bonnet is the reliable 2. 3 litre petrol engine that runs smoothly through its 5 speed manual gearbox, With nice alloy wheels, and chrome trimmed grille, and boxey Volvo lines it's just that bit different than everything else on the road today,
This car has been exceptionally well maintained by its previous owner.
The Timing belt done just last week as well as the alternator belt and the power steering belt, so should not need doing for at least another 60 thousand miles.
The car is very straight and the interior is as good for a 30 year old car.
The mileage is genuine and has only covered an average of 3866 miles per year through its life. Total mileage on the clock 116, 000

This car was going to be a keeper for me when I bought it but it wasn't long before my wife said we can't put our dogs in the back of that car , It's too good for carting them around in.. ( We have small Spaniels and I have to admit she has a point)
So that is the reason it is up for sale.
The engine is the 2. 3 Red Block ( 2316cc) and it is a non turbo so no intercooler and no turbo to replace when it starts to smoke.
It has had a full service with new engine oil and filter and also an air filter........... Note there are NO broken Clips on the air filter box.... another sign that it has been looked after.
New thermostat just fitted just to keep it right,
Now being totally honest I would say that the rear suspension is a little soft when going over sleeping policemen on the road, you get a second slight bounce on the rear, so to cure that I will include 2 Brand New rear shocks............ And that's about all it needs , don't get me wrong its not that bad or it would have failed it's mot which it didn't, it's me being totally honest and picky..
Oh! one more thing, The tyres on the car at the moment are all good and well within the legal limit but I will include a brand new set of tyres to go with the car as I don't have any more vehicles that the tyres will fit... They will do for later on in its life. They are Brand New with 2025 dot codes ( that's the 4 digit code that's stamped on the tyre showing the week and year that the tyres were manufactured )

The interior is clean and the top of the dash is spot on with no cracks from the sunlight over the years.
The windscreen is also in one piece with no cracks or chips
The speedo, the trip counter and rev counter all work as do the temp gauge and the fuel gauge so no problems there
If you need more info then by all means just Ask, nothing to hide from this end.
Happy Days finding your next Volvo Estate, not many like this one left, you haven't got sensors watching sensors on this model and it won't go into limp mode like the modern crap that's produced today, it's basically old School, you look under the bonnet and you can see what you are looking at, not just a mass of plastic covers that you can't even get off and no computer needed to tell you what's wrong with it.
Well you've probably guessed I'm not a fan of modern technology.. LOL!
Give me an old Volvo every day, I have a nice Amazon 122S that's tucked away out of sight and only used on a nice sunny summers day.
Come have a look at it nothing to hide from this end.
I don't drive scrap and I certainly wouldn't sell you scrap
