For sale is my well-maintained 2005 Volvo S40 2. 4i, a solid and reliable example of this well-built Swedish saloon with full service history and 3 owners.
Known for its extremely strong chassis and outstanding safety reputation, it features Volvo’s reinforced safety structure and inflatable side curtain airbags for excellent protection.
The 2. 4L naturally aspirated engine runs smooth and strong, delivering reliable performance without turbo complexity. It also sounds fantastic. The gearbox shifts smoothly and the car drives comfortably with solid road handling and stability.

• New iridium spark plugs
• New injectors (after slight fuel economy drop)
• K&N air filter (cleanable/ reusable)
• Carbon cabin filter
• New NAPA front brake pads (advised on MOT)
The car has a 90% MOT pass rate, reflecting how well it has been maintained.
Age-related wear is present as expected for a 2005 vehicle. There is a previous touch-up + scuff on the near-side rear quarter and a light scuff on the near-side front bumper. Alloys could benefit from refurbishment, EML did appear showing Fuel trim but then disappeared test drove and plugged diagnostics shows MPG etc, is in the normal ranges , but overall the car is in very good condition.

Originally bought this car specifically for the characterful and reliable Volvo 5-cylinder engine, as I’ve always had a passion for well-built German and Scandinavian cars.
It’s been a pleasure to own simple to work on, solidly engineered, and has never let me down. The car has been properly maintained and cared for during my ownership, always warmed up and driven sympathetically.
The only reason for sale is that I now need a more family-oriented vehicle, as this model does not have ISOFIX for a child seat
