Capots Vintage, specialists in sports and collectable vehicles in Lyon, is offering for sale a 1957 Triumph TR3:
Nicknamed the “small mouth” thanks to the shape of its grille, we’re offering a 1957 TR3—so this is an early phase—presented in Signal Red with a black imitation-leather interior and white piping. The TR3A, produced between 1957 and 1962 with around 58, 236 examples built, is nicknamed the “big mouth”. The TR3B, produced in 1962, saw approximately 3, 331 units manufactured.
Up front, this British roadster features a front bumper fitted with two overriders, long-range headlights with badge holders, and protective grilles over the lamps. At the rear, you’ll also find two additional overriders, along with a luggage rack. Notably, our car rides on four steel wheels finished to match the body colour, just like the original TR3 models.
The black interior with white piping is in good condition, with seats that have recently been reupholstered. The paintwork is also in good shape, showing a light patina in a few places, adding plenty of character to the overall look.
Mechanically, the 2-litre engine has recently been overhauled. In addition, we’ve carried out a compression test, which proved satisfactory.
It’s sold with both side screens and the hood cover, and comes with a four-seat collector registration document.
