Description
Of all the Eunos models, the V-Special always seems to be very popular. It was a special edition with a proper classic car feel, thanks to the tan leather trim and wood-rimmed steering wheel. In fact I always say that its like an old school classic British sports car - except that this one is built properly by the Japanese...
This is smart example of a Eunos V-Special is now offered for sale by Goodwood Sportscars. Its a 1992 1. 6 model finished in Neo Green with tan leather seats and trim and its in lovely condition throughout. Specification includes power steering, electric windows, Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel with matching Nardi gear knob and handbrake handle and stainless steel sill tread plates. This particular example drives incredibly well and has an excellent body too. Its covered an indicated 185877 kilometres (about 116100 miles) and its clearly been previously owned by an enthusiast.
Before I tell you more, let me tell you about Goodwood Sportscars and why should you buy from me:
I have been buying and selling Mazda MX5s for over 25 years now. While I'm a car dealer, I consider myself to be a car enthusiast above all else. I'll only sell cars that actual interest me as an enthusiast. I live, sleep and breath quick cars and have sold literally thousands of performance cars over a thirty year period. I have competed in various forms of motorsport including the Scottish Hillclimb Championship (in an MX5 of course). So I'm pretty good at spotting a good MX5 and at making one work to the best of its ability. I've had many thousands of MX5s through my hands and know their strengths and weaknesses well. The first thing you might notice about this one is that its sitting very slightly lower than standard, courtesy of a set of lowering springs. As a result handling is just wonderful and it still retains a really nice ride quality. Next thing to spot is the stainless steel exhaust system (from the cat converter back). This is a nice quality system and it sounds superb without being too loud - it just gives the car a nice burble. Its also been fitted with a set of 15" multi-spoke alloys along with decent tyres.
Its previously had minor sill repairs and close inspection shows that everything is solid and sound - wheel arches, sills, wings etc are all in good order. Its the same underneath - everything is solid and its been treated with waxoil. The only bodywork issues I can see are that it has a the odd minor stone chip and the odd light scratch in keeping with its age but honestly, there's nothing here thats going to keep you up at night and its a terrific looking car.
Inside its in nice condition: its a nice place to be and has a proper ‘classic car’ feel to it. Everything works as it should, other than the air conditioning which is weak at best. There is some wear to the leather seats - a few creases etc - but no holes or splits. Dashboard, door cards, carpets and plastic trim are all in good clean condition. Its fitted with a decent Pioneer stereo which sounds good. It also has a tan vinyl soft top from a Mk2 complete with glass window and it has a matching tan tonneau cover which looks great when fitted. The space saver spare wheel is present along with the original, jack, wheel brace etc and it even has its original tool kit. The headlights have been uprated to use halogen H4 bulbs (much better than the original sealed beam units).
This has just had a fairly large amount of engine work: apart from a full service (new oil and filter, air filter, new brake fluid, new spark plugs and leads), its also just had a new cam belt, new fuel pump, new air flow meter, new fuel pipes and filter, new coil pack and the radiator was also replaced recently. Its also just had new rear brake discs and pads fitted too.
Whenever I prepare a car for sale, I use my own MX5-based checklist which covers 80+ points and ensures that even the detail stuff is checked and any issues spotted and attended to. This includes all sorts of things such as hood catches, drain holes, electric windows, door locks, condition of coolant hoses right down to the state of the cigarette lighter. Finally, its MOT tested - in this case until 25th November 2026. It means the car is fit for purpose and should behave and drive just as a good MX5 should. As with all of my sales cars, I like to cover a good 250+ miles and needless to say, this one drives absolutely beautifully. There are no rattles, no squeaks and ride quality and handling are very good indeed. Its happy sitting on the motorway at daft speeds but even happier on a country lane.
The car is ready to be used and enjoyed and as a sign of how confident I am in the condition of the car, if the asking price of £5450 is paid, I'll include 6 months warranty administered by Warranty First.
I'm based in Berwick on Tweed, near the Scottish Border and I can collect any prospective buyer from the local train station or I can arrange to have the car delivered by a trusted transport company at extra cost. I’m well known in the MX5 world and know these cars well. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions – if you are genuinely interested, you’ll have plenty and I’m happy to talk about MX5s all day. I'm also happy to give you an honest description and if there any faults or issues with the car, I much prefer to tell you up front, so you are clear about what you are buying.
